Background: Just a quick update – it appears that the Office of Safe & Drug-Free Schools is on target to have this year’s PEP Grant winners announced as stated in the PEP Grant “Frequently Asked Questions” section.
“Courtesy Release” to Congress: This announcement is typically preceded by a “courtesy release” that goes out to all members of Congress the week before (ex: Thursday, September 23, 2010). Usually this “heads-up” to your specific Congressman has the names the school districts in your state who are being funded. The official announcement with the entire listing of winners will come out a week later. Good luck!
- When will grant awards be announced? Grants will be announced by September 30, 2010.
- Is this a multi-year grant program? Yes. Projects may be funded for up to 36 months (three budget periods of 12 months each), contingent upon the demonstration of substantial progress each year toward meeting project goals and objectives, and the availability of future funding.
- How many new awards will be made? We estimate that we will make about 93 new awards.
