As a part of the 2011 Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) grants from U.S. Department of Education, five school districts will be implementing the Virtual PE Administrator (VPE) this school year as a new data-driven assessment tool for K-12 physical education teachers.
With the intent of the PEP Grant funding to improve the number and percentage of students meeting and/or exceeding State Physical Education Standards, these five additional school districts will be joining a cadre of 15 other districts currently implementing VPE.
Designed by a former National Physical Education Administrator of the Year, this web-based curriculum and assessment software has been touted as “a viable solution for meeting many of today’s physical education challenges” being faced by K-12 physical educators nationwide.
“With this technology-rich platform,” states Artie Kamiya, President and Founder of the Great Activities Publishing Company, “Physical education teachers will now have the ability to teach, track and monitor skill development of students and the adoption of key obesity prevention behaviors recommended by CDC.” The five school districts receiving 2011 federal funding to implement this cutting edge assessment tool include:
- PENNCREST Schools, PA
- Haywood County Schools, NC
- San Antonio ISD, Texas
- South Glens Falls Central School District, NY; and
- Mohonasen Central School District
